Update: Activist Group Schedules Its Next Meeting

Kenneth M. O’Brien

As we reported on June 15th, a group of concerned Southbridge citizens congregated the following day, to address the issues confronting their town.

Of the almost 80 articles that we have posted since starting this blog, the report that this group was organizing has been the seventh most popular among readers for all time.

As a result of such public interest many others and I have wondered what would happen next.

Finally we have some insight.

Raciel Fernandez has provided me with the following information related to a follow-up to that first meeting:

“We've secured the Arts Center again for our second meeting scheduled for Friday, July 15th from 7pm - 10pm.  Lots to discuss and plan.  Now that we have a new Town Council, we know who and what to address.
We'll focus on deciding on our top issues that we all agree on as our platform.  We're a very diverse group.  Many of us disagree on many things but there are issues we all managed to agree on.  That's the place we'll work from and gain our power.

I can only hope that we will receive more information about what is discussed at that meeting in the nature of a formal set of minutes.

  1. Thanks for posting, Ken!

We will post all of our minutes from the previous meeting once the group approves them next Friday. I didn't want to take it upon myself to assume everyone agreed with what occurred.

We plan to be transparent so everyone will know who we are, what we're all about, and where we want to take the town. Of course, any strategy sessions may not be made public until after.
