  1. So by all of this am I to assume Pete is merely paying back Clemence and Co. for all the help at the last election? Gosh it sounds that way to me, and like I have said all along, Pete never forgets his political cronies. Too bad for Southbridge. I guess the AG reviewing silly documents the way this town is run is a waste of time anyway. They don't need any stinking rules..........

    1. Bob:
It just goes to show how half-baked this whole exercise is.
Chapter 5 of the Acts of 2006 already established that the AG does not have to review Southbridge bylaws.

  2. Ken you have to remember what a helper Pete was to businesses in Spencer when he was a selectman. In 2006 he and his fellow SM sent the Building Inspector around to enforce a bylaw passed several months earlier that (are you ready for this?) kept businesses from advertising what they did in their storefront windows. When I confronted the Building Inspector he told me that the SM of Spencer told him to enforce this. The fine for not complying? Three hundred dollars a day, and keep in mind WalMart was opening in Leicester in a few short months. When I talked to Pete and another SM about it at Kaboodles restaurant, they both told me they were targeting Whitco a toy store that had particularly garish signs (red and yellow) and that if they did this to ALL businesses we would colectively bring pressure to bear on Whitco. Pete is big on everyone else doing his dirty work. When I confronted the SM at the next SM meeting they all lied and denied (sound familiar?) and branded me as a conspiracy nut, the building inspector took a job in Weston, and we were all off to the races. Then we hired a building isnspector with zero experience because if you have no experience you tend to ask fewer questions when SM tell you what to do and how to do it. Oh that Pete is one hell of a helper. He finally tries to get a bill passed and it helps who? Not the town but his buds in the Town Hall. Pete is a class act all right. He should go back to doing "roundtable discussions" asking questions he already knows the answers to. At least Denise and the Chair are happy, and damn it that is all that counts.

  3. aka Jester

All this reminded me of KC & The Sunshine Band’s 1975 hit “That’s The Way (I Like It)". WARNING...The lyrics have been “Slightly Revised”:

Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo
Doo doo doo doo doo doo doo

    That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh (THEY like it), uh-huh uh-huh.
    That's the way, uh-huh uh-huh (THEY like it), uh-huh uh-huh.

  5. well here is another prime example of the dirty things that are happening in southbridge, and if it wasn't for this blog we may not have heard about it. As with some of the councilors its time for Mr Durant to go, he needs to be a one term state rep. Its also time for Mr Moore to retire, I use to support him for many years until he did what he did to the Southbridge Office of the DMV he was no help at all. Its time to make changes....The New World Order looks like they are starting with Southbridge come on Southbridge make the changes
