Romney's Lies

Rachel Maddow
Rarely do journalists have the courage to use the term liar when referring to a candidate for public office.

It is even more unusual for a journalist with a national forum to use the term in reference to a candidate for President of the United States.

On Thursday, May 31, Massachusetts' own Rachel Maddow did this on her nightly program.

Regardless of whether you agree with her political leanings or not, one aspect of Ms. Maddow's reporting is her devotion to verifiable facts. She has assembled one of the best research staffs in the cable news business.
Anyone who is seriously interested in assessing the merits of the current Republican candidate for President of the United States should watch the following video from Thursday’s Rachel Maddow Show.

If you can dispute and/or contradict the facts, please do so. If you cannot, then perhaps you should consider to what extent you really want to support the Republican candidate for President.

  1. Wow is that a Romney/Goebbels compare and contrast?

  2. Of course not. It's merely a trivia challenge. What are the six degrees of separation?

  3. Or how about Romney's lie that Obama travels the globe "apologizing for America". As if that's a bad thing considering the 10-year expansionist adventure we took in the Middle East.

Or how about his lie that "we build fewer ships than any time since 1911" (date is incorrect). Blatent lie. The US Navy, under Obama's administration, is building more ships now than during the Bush years.

Or how about Romney's own website that Obama wishes to "hollow out" the military in complete contradiction to the president's own budget agenda of an INCREASE in DoD funding.

This guy thinks he's so smart that people don't care about the facts. He really is out of touch.

    1. Don't forget the one that says that if the stimulus is adopted unemployment will drop below 6%. Obama never said that. Some advisers or political flacks may have, but Obama never did.

    2. Too true. Obama also never "promised" or "guaranteed" any unemployment percentages. That's a sneaky tactic, but I don't let Democrats in Congress off the hook either with their "end of Medicare as we know it" doom-and-gloom scare tactics against the elderly. Although the Ryan Plan does in fact end Medicare "as we know it", it was a scare tactic that leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

  4. My apologies. I have to amend my previous comment about Romney's comment about Navy ships. He said "the Navy is smaller than any time since 1918." Fine, Mutt, but we still build more ships now than 5 years ago when we were fully fighting two wars. Besides, what kind f comparison is it when you think about what the Navy was in 1918? They were freakin' coal powered! Do you really think they had the range, speed, or weapons capability that nuclear aircraft carriers have today? By the way, our Navy is larger than the next 13 navies combined, and also possesses the second largest air force on the planet. Right. We REAAAALLY need more of that. It's a travesty that we only have 11 aircraft carriers, 283 various ships and 4000 aircraft.

    1. The Republicans and their media outlet Fox News want to keep attacking the failed economic policies of Obama. The reality is that Obama’s policies ended with the election of Scott Brown. This buffoon gave the Republicans a lock on the filibuster.
Since then, combined with the Tea Party nutbags elected to Congress in 2010, there have been NO Obama policies, other than those he could enact through Executive order.
If the Republicans wanted to criticize Obama’s policies, they should have let him enact them. Instead they stonewalled preventing anything from happening.
Meanwhile, Europe has followed the very policies the Republicans have advocated. And now, because their economies are crashing as a result of what the Republicans want to do here, the American economy is suffering because our largest export market is crashing.

      You're welcome.

    3. @GO TO HELL MITT

Spot on with right-wing Republicans. Remember Obama's million-dollar ad about patience and how this economy will take some time? Well he was speaking to us, in Massachusetts, who elected Scott Brown and forgot that it takes time to mend wounds that festered for decades.

    4. Romney, the candidate with no original ideas. If he can destroy America the way he did the lives of the people at the companies he bought and destroyed, we'll all be in better shape, right? Obama 2012. Romney to Utah in 2012.

    1. Keep showing the bigoted, race-baiting, greed mongering, bible thumping intolerance that wants to turn over America to rule by a fundamentalist Christian Taliban that is the new Republican party. You have nothing to offer but the same disastrous policies that got America into this mess and that continue to ravage Europe. Don’t forget to get that spit polish on your jackboots to a high sheen before you go out.

  9. I wanted to watch all 19 minutes of this video Ken, but couldn't get past the whiny factor in her voice, or the "neiner-neiner-neiner, I told you so" liberal rantings of this pablum spouter. Shocked you are that the presidential candidate purposely cast his oponent in a negative light? What's next, spreading lies? Oh heaven forbid!

BTW, the term 'what's salt for the goose is salt for the gander,' means that if you're going to do it to me then you're getting the same treatment (at least that's what our own Massachusetts incumbent, our boy Mitt, means in this clip).

So friends don't be fooled by a pretty face. Rachel Maddow is acting like she is outing Mitt for being two faced, but sadly it is part and parcel of everyone's campaign.

Also, just like it wasn't fair to cast Obama as some Muslim sympathizer it is also not fair to throw around words like jackboots and Christian Taliban when talking about Romney. At least for myself I believe both of them are pretty conservative in their lives and fairly moderate in their politics.

      -----------
You apparently "almost" viewed this clip like most of the right wing, with preconceived notions that could never be changed.

Your misquote of what Romney said is evidence of inattention to the clip.

  10. My bad, I meant "sauce." It still implies that Obama and his democratic minions were pulling sneaky tricks on our own squeaky clean former Guv. I believe Mitt when he tells me that Obama started this dirty campaigning. Just like you believe Obama when he tells you the economy is going to be fine if you give him four more years.

As an aside, apparently now there is further evidence, from Obama's own writing, that he was born in Kenya. I think Donald Trump gave up too quickly on that one.
