  1. checkout the 56:25 mark when Quinney says she is going to have a stroke right now!
Thats not professional and probably not even allowed under Robert rules of order under meeting decorum.
Had she actually had a stroke I wouldn't of blamed anyone for not being a good Samaritan. However like the 2nd grade teacher praised for saving a life I'm sure they would of any way. Simply because thats the type of good caring people we have teaching our kids. Now for administrating for our kids watch this video and you decide. I think they did more to create a new school choice problem than they did to prevent it.
Since when is an outside task force report adopted as a job description? If thats what the SC wants them to do they have create the curriculum for them to follow. Instead they just blamed them for not following something an outside task force created. INDEFENSIBLE NONSENSE!

    2. McLouhhlin and Donovan owe Dave Williams, they won't have him present. Plus, he's BBF with Buzz.

    3. Dave Williams does nothing for the teachers union except send blanket emails after the fact and make sure that union dues are paid. Perhaps President Dave should have advised the guidance folks before they got their asses chewed.

  3. That interrogation was clearly prepared before the meeting. Only a fool wouldn't realize that this was a set up ambush. Show that the lower level personnel are incompetent and take the heat off of McLoughlin and her crew as well as Buzz.

    1. Was she the "inexperienced principal" he talked about? Or was that Tammy? Or, is there any difference aside from the fact that he appointed one and not the other?

  4. it was a complete sham of placing the blame on the town council and providing cover for themselves when they don't get as big an increase as they are asking for.
You didn't give us the money so don't blame us our hands are tied.

    1. I'm betting she finishes the year and then conveniently gets the door. If she where a true leader she would of defended her guidance staff from the onslaught. She sat there as their direct supervisor and did nothing. She didn't even accept the blame for them. Why didn't anyone at the dais poling them like cattle ask why administration wasn't on top of things in the guidance dept? Planned SET UP! IT was either Colleen Culligan or them as someone had to take one for the district tonight to tell "the STORY" !

    2. Ms Culligan mis- spoke, or out right told a whoppet. MassCore was in effect back in 2008/09. Students were made to take a fourth year of math/3years of a life science, and the other requirements

Why are Buzz and the girls having their henchmen trying to rewrite history?

  6. As I watched a press conference at the scene of the tragic fire in Boston last night I couldn't help but notice the support the men who lost their lives from their Union president. And while these two events are obviously totally different in outcome, there are similarities.

The firefighters have union leadership. Leaders that support their rank and file openly and proudly. They are with their members in good times and bad. They are honorable.

Where is the SEA's union president. Not a word from him David Williams continues to be a coward in the face of crisis. He sits at local bars and drinks for hours with teachers and school committee members, yet is absent from this attack. He hasn't said a word about the terminations, suspensions, badgering, etc., of the union members.

Time to pick sides Dave . . . Are you with the union members or with your pals Buzz and the girls?

    1. Earlier I read that buzz had lost unemployment cases and that he was scolded for some of the administrative leaves without pay he has made. Buzz was bitching about having his hands tied by the union in his rant. He actually bashed the union several times over. Winning a blog war doesn't help win legal proceedings. I think the fact that Buzz is bitching means that the union is quietly and efficiently protecting those against his hatchet whims in the proper arenas. I love this blog but come on we don't hear about every HYDE unemployment case here either. Stay classy Southbridge.

  7. Where's Dave Williams? Certainly not going to bat for his union members.
Williams needs to go to the podium and undress these better-than-thou fools. He just ain't got the stones.

    1. if you really want to see Dave Williams you should be able to find him at The Dark Horse tavern on Crane Street today around 3:00 PM. He'll be with the guidance department telling them how much he and the union are doing for them.

    4. Dave won't settle anything. He would have to do something for the teachers first in order to settle something.

      Delete
  8. Dave will have the last laugh when all the actions on behalf of teachers whose fundamental rights have been violated are settled. Unfortunately, by then, Buzz who committed the violations will be gone and it’s the taxpayers of Southbridge who will have to pick up the tab.

  9. I have a simple question for those who support the current school administration.
Can any of you show me any evidence of progress or improvement since Buzz came on board in December of 2012 or since McLoughlin and Donovan and Quinney were elected?

    ReplyDelete
  10. Today's News: "The school committee . . . we can't do it ourselves, she (McLoughlin) said. "We need the whole community behind us."

Does she have any idea how many people she and other members have damaged? Is she so self centered? Does she really think she is doing a good job? OMG!

    ReplyDelete

    1. In other words the fact that she is failing is the fault of the whole community.
      Spread the blame.
Will her solution be another crying jag on TV so that she can get on all the Boston TV stations to say that it takes a village? Maybe it does, but not when it’s being led by the village idiot.

  11. What an arrogant, egotistical, hypocritical witch.
She wanted the power, the spotlight, and the prestige.
She and her cronies bullied Woodruff off of the committee giving Buzz his “unified” bunch of rubber stamp wielding bobbleheads. They brought on Olivo who has been nothing more than a butt filling an otherwise empty seat.
She cried her way into public sympathy because a local blogger made jokes about her weight.
Her maidservants publicly humiliated employees in a staged ambush to embarrass them as an example of the “incompetence” they had to deal with, all the while reinforcing the paranoia that the teaching staff has to live with every day.
And now that she’s running out of places to turn she says it takes the community to fix things.
The community elected her to fix things, gave her the power and she can’t deliver the goods.
And now she wants over a million dollars more than the town manager says we can afford without a thing to show for the time that she has had her way except an exodus of students from the district and a mountain of unemployment costs.
If anybody deserves to be humiliated and ridiculed it is Mrs. McLoughlin and her ladies in waiting, Quinney, Donovan and Congdon.
But the truly sad fact is that their humiliation is our town’s shame.

  12. Ken, you are going to love this.
That Facebook page that banned you and that is sponsored by a perennial school committee candidate whose whole agenda is SPED has put up today’s articles from The Southbridge News about Tuesday night.
And both articles have a thumbs-up from “The Southbridge Public School Community”. Who is “The Southbridge Public School Community”? Is that another group like “Citizens for a Better Tomorrow” that’s really Exxon, BP and Shell?

    5. What are current school committee members and school committee want-to-be candidates doing in our schools during the school day? There is important work to be done each day in these buildings. There is no time for the administrators "entertain" these political hacks. STAY OUT of our schools during instructional time.

PS - Who in their right mind would vote for Pate or Nikola? Especially knowing that they"re pals with Quinney?

    7. Lauren, Do you hear that? Listen closely . . . It's the sound of Quinney banging the gavel. She's orchestrating her ascension to the throne. You know how that's done . . . pal up then stab in the back. Just like you did to Woodhead. (Yes Kara, I spelled Woody's name wrong).

  17. Wow, just watched the meeting. And those folks thought Scott Lax was an SOB. He couldn't carry Quinney's bags.

  18. How sad has our school system become under the control of McLoughlin and Donovan? Throw Quinney and Congdon in and you have a complete disaster. Our poor students and our community.

  19. The school district is rated a Level 4 district by the State. Yet none of the schools are at a Level 4 rating. In fact, the high school reached a Level 1 in the 2011/12 school year. So why is the district a level 4?

Because the State has continued to find problems in the governance by the school committee and issues plaguing central office. Let them watch the most recent meeting and they may rate our district as a Level 10!

Nembirkow melting down, rambling, blaming and attacking the former athletic director was embarrassing and shameful. I thought he was going to have the stroke (although Quinney stated she was). The full out assault on the poor guidance staff - shameful.

Does Mrs Quinney know that it the school committee's responsibility to decide on curriculum? If our guidance department lacks adequate curriculum guides it is the school committee's fault. Only when these guides are not followed should staff be dressed down, and certainly not on TV at a public meeting.

But once again the girls and Buzz are placing blame on others, instead of looking in the mirror. Do your jobs or get out of the way and let capable people save our schools.

    ReplyDelete
  20. It was interesting how interested the girls were in the annual $ 40,000 American Optical scholarship. They beat the hell out of the guidance staff and then asked about the AO scholarship. I guess Donovan and McLoughlin fully expect their children to be awarded this scholarship. All others need not apply!

    1. Did you really think McLoughlin and Donovan were on the school committee for all our kids? They're there for their own children. What can I get for my kids? At least they are publicly saying it. Did you notice Donovan send the lavish praise for McLoughlin's daughter on the air? Didn't hear her mention the good work of any other children.

      What a couple of frauds.

    1. Do our building administrators really have the time to give guided tours of our schools during class time? Do have too many administrators? Or is their time being wasted by politicians wanting to help their pals win the next election?

Maybe Buzz should include another new position in the budget: Director of Building Tours. What's another $100,000 when your pissing away 25 million dollars. Is that what they did in Brockton?

      Delete
    2. Beautifully said, Marchc 29, 10:21AM! Has any other superintendent needed so many administrators to help him do his job and yet he doesn't realize that the only way that middle/high school is going to run properly is by having two principals?

  22. Who does Erin Quinney think she is. I left the meeting prior to the end because I have a family, had been at work since 7:00 AM, and it was 10:00 PM. And I hear the next day the Queen Quinney publicly chastised those of us that left prior to the meeting's conclusion.

Quinney is exactly what's wrong with the Southbridge Public Schools. Throw in the other dolts on the committee and King Buzz and you have a real unworkable environment. Exactly why I'm looking for a job after many years in the Southbridge Schools. These people are NUTS and INCOMPETENT!

This attack was planned don't give in - they won't be here that long.

  23. Looking A Little DeeperMarch 29, 2014 at 5:36 PM

Buzz keeps talking about how he came out of retirement to help Southbridge. That’s not the case according to the Enterprise News out of Brockton. According to an article that appeared there in May of last year, “Nembirkow spent five years leading the schools in Brockton, coming to the city in 2004 from Chicopee to replace Joseph A. Bage, who retired after 61/2 years in the post. Though he bought a unit at the SoCo lofts at 147 Centre St. in Brockton to meet the residency requirement, his family remained in and around South Deerfield, and he traveled there on weekends. As a leader, he closed the Franklin and Ashfield schools, although the Ashfield was later re-opened. He also presided over the opening of Mary E. Baker Elementary School and led the fight against a for-profit charter school opening in the city.
    Last we heard:
Nembirkow left one year before his second three-year contract expired, speaking of his desire to spend more time with his grandson, a toddler. Less than six months after leaving, he took a job as interim superintendent of the school system in Lenox. According to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, Nembirkow then held two jobs between August 2010 and September 2011. He worked for Houghton Mifflin Harcourt in Boston as an education consultant and he worked for Mosaic Turnaround Partners of New York, serving as an executive coach for five chronically underperforming schools in Detroit.
    What’s happening now
According to the Worcester Telegram & Gazette, Nembirkow was hired in December to become Southbridge’s acting school superintendent, making $500 per day. He did not return a phone call or an email request for comment.”

Anybody ever hear of the Peter Principle? Clearly our school committee hasn't. Oh, wait, the same applies to them.

    3. That kind of puts the lie to the claim that he just came out of retirement to help Southbridge. The article about Pittsfield shows that he was looking for another assignment in June of 2012. Then he gets hired here in December. So much for altruism.

  24. If you look back at Buzz’s statements during Superintendent’s Report at school committee meetings over the last year you’ll see that he keeps stressing getting Southbridge out of level IV status. During one session he even says that getting to level 3.999 will do.
However, not one of Southbridge’s schools is at level IV. What do you want to bet that his pals at the DESE will bump us up to level III no matter what happens, Buzz will declare victory and leave?

    1. The problem with the district is Gardner, Osborne, Solzak, Culligan and the rest of the frauds within the administration. Osborne has no clue what anyone in the school does and he helps no one by being there except himself. Gardner is just useless. Solzak walks the hallways of the school like he is king shit, but does nothing at all. Culligan is worthless (see school committee meeting). They piss all over the little guys and take credit for what the workers do. These people do nothing for the schools - nothing.
