Vote to create a new assistant superintendent position; vote to appoint another goal of the Springfield crew. No interviews, etc. The usual way of doing business. Does corruption seem like the right word for the McLoughlin / Donovan crew?Did you get your tax bill today ? Please don't complain - the town voted for the four bobbleheads, and confirmed their love of taxes and stupidity when they voted in bobblehead #5 - Abrahamson.Everything is Beautiful !
I heard the subcommittees were voted during the meeting but no one knows who is on which one. You are suppose to vote one at a time with the name of Chair and the members!! I guess things will be kept a secret again this year!! Why bother watching any of the meetings. Another year of their way and not the right way!!!
I find it rather disingenuous for Mrs. Woodruff to be critiquing the current school committee, and their secretive antics. Mrs. Woodruff, along with former member Mary Ellen Prencipe worked feverously to oust the former chair of the committee, Mr. Jovan. They failed to admit that the district had moved steadily in a positive manner during Jovan’s leadership period. The Jovan committee cleaned up a 3.6 million dollar deficit created by the Prencipe crew. They brought the high school to a Level 1 building, in a level 4 district (high school now a Level 3, district still a Level 4). They maintained appropriate spending levels; recruited, conducted sincere search committees, and retained “quality”staff.; recruited and retained students; and improved the district’s image. Not all was perfect, but it was a hell of a lot better district than it is after two years of Woodruff/Prencipe and McLoughlin/Donovan leaderships.Back to Woodruff . . . Patricia should go back and view some of the meetings she presided over. I think Lazo summed it up perfectly when he said that she and Prencipe looked like Edgar Bergen and Charlie McCarthy. Then there were the times when she banged the gavel on the dais so hard that I thought she was driving a spike into the transcontinental railroad. But the final issue I have with hearing from Woodruff belies in the fact that she quit an elected office because she didn’t get her way. The girls that she worked so hard for in her quest to beat Jovan backstabbed her and overthrew her. She did nothing positive on the committee for four years, when she became chair she looked like a buffoon running meetings, and then she quit. (Quitting elected office(S) – something this blog moderator knows a great deal about!)
Funny for me to say, I know, but I've stopped paying attention to politics. I'm friends with the Woodruff family...that doesn't mean that we agree on everything, but...Can't you at least give credit to someone who takes the time to write here? Ask her questions, and open a dialog. Take it from someone who has learned over top, being critical and over the top all the time isn't productive, nor healthy. There are many people elected in town that I agree with, and many I disagree with. Take the personal issues out (I learned how) and you can have much more meaningful conversations...without having to be mean.I applaud Patricia for taking the time to respond here. If you chase people away, you'll never have a candid, articulate discussion...and that will never help anybody.Just my opinion, of course.
