Southbridge School Committee Meeting - July 29, 2014

  1. The ELL / Sped administrative position seems to be written with a specific person in mind. Any one want to bet that it is another Springfield "friend" of Gardner the Butcher of Southbridge?

This absolutely should NOT be a union position. this person will be evaluating other union members. Not a sound administrative/leadership action.
Thanks McLoughlin and Donovan for making the system even worse.

  2. Dr. Ray Page, a new member with only 2 meetings under his belt, is the only one of the seven who knows not only his role, but the roles of other positions within the district.

  3. Well, just got the news that the Evening Rag is only going to be a weekly rag from now on. If that is true then even the small amount of scrutiny on the School Committee is gone. That will put the pressure on this blog to keep "the people" informed.

"Never has so much been said by so few that meant so little to so many."

Three very successful candidates in the past decade that were virtual out of toeners that were not well known at all: Estrada, King, Livengood.

It is wrong for John to run once for Council even though he was asking friends to vote for three others and because he just wanted to get in on the debate, but it was alright for Dennis to run twice when everyone but Dennis knew he had less of a chance the second time than the first. So if you want to win and it is alright, even if you are unlikely to win?

It was alright if you decided to run for School Committee even though you have so little faith in it that you send your children to another school, but it was wrong for two Veterans to run for Town Council because they had so little faith in to form if government that brought this town down?

The people that want the town to comply with the law regarding the landfill need to give up on their desire for protect public health and the environment because the terrible translation of the petition lost 2:1, even though the town could council refused to allow the landfill proposal on the ballot? Did you see SL the firmer town officials that signed that petition? Town Clerk, Town Councilors, school committee, former Department heads. If the petition was on the ballot instead if the poor translation these names would have been published and the results may have been the inverse.

We will know next time around.

We will know next time around. I could be as wrong as I think you are Mr. Martinik, but the way I see it, over four out of five local voters are so disgusted with our form of town government that they do not even bother to vote in local elections There is not a single Councilor that has received a vote from more than 10% of the voters! Where is the consent of the governed?
