  1. Why are we adding another head to our town's payroll at $49K to almost $59K as an assistant town accountant? Our town's population continues to decline while our payroll continues to swell.

    More Overhead is right on. I don't disagree that our town accountant has done an excellent job, but when will we stop this ever growing bureaucracy?
    Who hasn't gone into town hall and seen numerous employees doing somewhat less than is what is demanded of us in the private sector?
    Rather than growing the staff at town hall we should be looking to shrink it in keeping with what we can afford. What will happen when the landfill gravy train runs dry in a few years?

    Wait until you see the school department shortfall. Remember the 3.6 million dollar deficit? They're on the same track.
    Time for the council to question the number of unfunded positions currently employed in the schools.

  7. Why didn't Manna hold SC Member Brent Abrahamson to the same scrutiny for yelling at the podium during councilors forum as she did John Pulawski during citizen's forum? After All she didn't like either of their responses and should have felt equally intimidated if they both yelled. Oh, that's right one is a concerned citizen and one is somehow an elected official. Southbridge's selected enforcement practices on display and caught on film.

    I ran into my neighbor the other day and she told me that the superintendent had hired yet another administrative assistant at central office.

    I don't recall any vote of the school committee to create this latest, needless position. I also discovered that there was no job posting, search or interviews. It's interesting that the selected person is a relative of one of the school committee members - fascinating. Is it legal?

    The town council is arguing over a person in the town account's office. They better start looking at school district spending. It was only a decade ago when the last group of PTA/SPED moms posted a 3.6 million dollar shortfall. Have we forgotten that debacle and the subsequent demise of the system from the 60 lost teaching positions?

    From Gardner's own mouth the statement that she is not a budget person. What do you mean I'm out of money, I still have a book of blank checks.

  11. I agree I do not think that we need an assistant town accountant.Town is going down in population.Jobs are scarce,but we want to hire at the T.Hall. Sidewalks are late being restored,gas prices are going down, and the talk is to have a new gas station on main st. Rumor was she was to be let go!!!
