  1. Interestingly, not once in any of these discussions did anyone mention the costs posed by administration as I pointed out in “Examining The Southbridge School Budget” and “Budget Questions For The School Committee”.

Looks like Brent wants to be the only Cheerleader left..

The problem with this idea is that many students will lose the incentive provided by the athletic programs to keep their grades up, and many athletes and cheerleaders will take the school choice option and before long we will have the lowest teacher student ratio in the Commonwealth.

And when the grades go down even more, people will continue to blame the next round of School Committee members and their Superintendent.

  3. Someone belongs in the Looney bin...doesn't someone understand how important After school activities help develops a students education but also his or hers social skills to become a productive individual in life instead of the lone person sitting behind a game screen.. Stop trying to sell how bad previous school committee's were or blaming former administrations for today's problems..look into the mirror and get on with yourself and understand its not about you

  4. ***"borders on the obscene" ***per Mr Abrahamson as it pertains to $$$ spent for athletics***
hmmm...let's see..there are sooo much more 'obscene' things going on here!

Merriam/Webster definition of 'obscene': 1): disgusting to the senses: repulsive - kind of how we feel when watching the antics, rantings etc that are the SC mtgs
    2) a: abhorrent to morality or virtue; specifically: designed to incite to lust or depravity - well, don't know about lust - but the 'depravity' fits... b: containing or being language regarded as taboo in polite usage or maybe 'obscene' rants or motions or policies; c: repulsive by reason of crass disregard of of moral or ethical principles WOW - can we see where this would fit ?!?!?!? d:so excessive as to be offensive - perfect!!

So...how does the athletic spending qualify as 'obscene' and the and hundreds of thousands of $$$ spent on legal & unemployment costs not??? I think the TM and TC think those expenditures are pretty 'obscene'...

and Mr Abrahamson is an educated man - a product of the Southbridge Public Schools; college educated - and a retired teacher....WOW...how could we have elected someone so clueless about what constitutes a well rounded education - what stimulates a child into WANTING to come to school and learn - art, music, theatre, school newspaper, film making etc, as well as athletics, go into 'education'.

It is too bad that so much is done in secret - the deviousness of some mebers of the SC and some administrators just blows my mind - but how do we get the public to be engaged?? how do they find out?? I can not believe they would not care if they knew. But maybe I'm just a Pollyanna. I care deeply and I do not have children or grandchildren in the system.

The SC moved over $800,000 around tonight in "house keeping" items. Either totally inept budget preparation or one big f@#$ing house.
They busted Mrs. Earls ass over a few dollars for Virtual High School (320 online, high demand courses for over achievers).
