Well, despite their "commitment" to stopping expansion of the landfill, nobody even attempted to stop or question the approval of the latest candidate for the BOH.I wonder, did we ever get any results on the survey related to landfill fees termed "most favored nation"? If we never did, wouldn't that constitute a breach of contract by Casella? And, wouldn't that be grounds for terminating the agreement?
There were people at the Council meeting on Monday ready to speak on this subject, but not one Councilor opened up discussion. By the time anyone got to the podium it was already approved. There were things daid at the subcommittee meeting of the Council that recommended approval of this appointment that the public will learn about that can possibly revetse this appointment, deoending on who is elected next week.As you know from a public exchange that you had with a Councilor on FB, there is a misguided opinion that questions related to the landfill are not allowed when appointing members if of the board of health.Perhaps it is time to elect our board of health so the voters can decide to select people that will do something to ensure that significantly serious health risks in this community are controlled or eliminated.
If I remember correctly, the agreement is written such that we can't terminate it if we fail to exercise all the rights and benefits it provides for.
