Kenneth M. O’Brien
The time has come to admit that I made a mistake.
I believe that it is also time for national Democrats (at least the majority of us) to admit the same.
For the good of the country Barack Obama should step aside. If it comes to it, he should be set aside.

Circumstances call for a Harry Truman.
We have a more talkative version of Calvin Coolidge.
We have a more talkative version of Calvin Coolidge.
Yes, we wanted hope.
Yes, we wanted change.
When it came down to driving people to the polls, we ultimately found Obama’s oratory more inspiring than Mrs. Clinton’s.
But, at least for the more cynical among us, there was also the belief that behind the image and the oratory there was the steely spine born of surviving Chicago politics.
It has become clear that the steely spine of the administration was named Rahm Emmanuel.
Ever since his departure this White House foundered in a sea of indecision, stumbling and abandonment of its core supporters.
The fact is that there was little difference philosophically between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.
The time has come to admit that we made a mistake.
When it comes to cajones, it is clear that, at least figuratively, Hillary has the goods.
Let’s correct our error NOW!
I voted for Hillary! My husband says that a woman would mess up the country. I told him that it wouldn't mess it up any more than it already is.
ReplyDeleteTell your husband to look up Golda Meir, former Prime Minister of Israel.
ReplyDeleteThen, cite Margaret Thatcher of England, or perhaps current Prime Minister of Germany Angela Merkel.

ReplyDeleteThat's hilarious, Ken, or should I say Hillary-ous! I've come to the same conclusion. Our President proved to be the conservative centrist that his record in Chicago and the Senate indicated, but his personality took us over. The problem with this is the so-called "center" has been moved so far right that it's unrecognizable. The audacity of progressive hope that he promoted just never came. While I was worried that Hillary was too "hawkish" on defense, I think she would have had the courage to stand up to the Tea Party lead Republicans and weak Democratic reps. I give full credit to my husband who said that Hillary was the right candidate in 2008.
ReplyDeleteI'd vote for Michelle O'Bama before I'd vote for Hillary. Ken, you said you want to correct the error now. Any problem with having a Primary and election first?
ReplyDeleteHillary Clinton for President. Ha, once again, the Democrats may be indeed capable of snatching defeat from the jaws of Victory by nominating Hillary Clinton.
Why so quick to abandon our democratic President? Has loyalty any meaning nowadays? Hillary voted for to empower bush with the Iraq invasion. that is why she isn't President or ever nominee of the party that has a heart and a brain-BAD judgement.
Margaret Thatcher? Tormentor of our Irish Brethren and Unions of teh UK. Ken, are you a Reagan Democrat?
Did I fall asleep and wake up on April 1st? First the body snatchers appear to have gotten to Dennis, now Kenny?

ReplyDeleteIn a rare political common ground moment, I agree with Ken. Hillary would be a better candidate than Obama.
ReplyDeleteThen again I sported a Run Hillary Run bumper sticker on my car's bumper. Truth be told it was on my FRONT BUMPER.
Still I feared Bush Derangement Syndrome would give us Obama and I'd rather have Hillary any day of the week than Obama. The MA people nominated Hillary in the primary so they also must of thought that way.
As to Democratic loyalty ? OMG that makes me break out in a fit of hysterics. Why should anyone tote the party line for democratic politicians when those same politicians don't show the same loyalty to the voters.
I'm talking about the 13 Democrat Super Delagates who voted against the people of MA. The people of MA voted Hillary as they candidate of choice in the 2008 primary but where not represented by these super delegates who voted for "THE ONE" instead.
MA Primary Totals :
Clinton votes 704591 or 56% to Obama votes 511887 or 42%
Focus attention on the traitors to the democrats of MA . Those non loyalists are:
John Olver, Niki Tsongas (5K from Obama) Mike Capuana, Bill Delahunt ( Amy Bishop cover up), Deval Patrick (hey it's ok to use my just words speech), John Forbes Kerry ( I always refer to that F as something else), Edward M Kennedy (*If you don't like Obama blame Kennedy), Special DNC members Raymond Jordan, David O'brien, Alan Solomont, John Walsh, Margaret D. Xifaras, Paul G.Kirk Jr. (yes that guy that kennedy legislated from the grave to temporarily take his place so the people couldn't decide. )
MA Superdelagates 11 for Hillary - 13 for Obama - 4 undeclared - for total of 28
* Kennedy is and always will be a special case deserving of an asterisk. This Super Delegate had the honorary position to accept donations of 10 K from Hillary Clinton and only 4200 from Obama before voting for Obama.
NOW THAT'S LOYALTY!!! Kind of like Thatcher's butchering of our Irish Brethren.
A super delegate is free to vote their choice and they are in NO way obligated to vote along with the primary voters-things change between the springtime and the summer time-this is why we have superdelegates.
ReplyDeleteDennos, your former methods didn't fail until you started to use foul language and demonstrated occasionally pettiness in posts on rare occasion. More often than not there was nothing wrong with your methods on SoS-they didn't fail-you gave up too soon. We are fortunate that Mr. O'Brien is taking the time to provide a community forum to disagree with each other in an agreeable format.
And considering you don't even know my actual professional name Dennos, you don't know me as well as you imagine you do. You know 15% of my past, and to listen to you, you think you know 100% of our future, but you once thought Apple was an amazing man worthy of your support and your devotion.
Super delagates are laughable and if allowed to vote as you say then they undermine the people's vote. A big NO NO in my book.
ReplyDelete1st Feb 5th isn't springtime yet - try March 20th the spring equinox - but that still doesn't make your point. (Read on.)
2nd like in a comic book no party should should paint a S on anyones chest and give them more power than everybody else. (especially over the people)
3rd - the same can be said for the super congress debacle with our deficit ceiling.
4th - assuming you still disagree - then you must be ok with a council not following our charter because alot can happen between 2003/04 when it was voted on and now. There position is: thats why we have a council and a majority on council that knows better than the barnyard animals they represent.
Just because things exist doesn't make them correct.
Kind of like the town government-laughable but painfully real, albeit not realistic. I agree that in a Democracy, we should not have super delegates, but we do, and they did not break the rules.
ReplyDeletePerhaps it is time for a reality check-we don't get to vote for our President-just our primary delegates and our electoral electors. Congress is the People's place in government. (And the Senate during the last century). I am just one voice, but I'd have preferred allowing us to directly vote for our Presidential nominee and our President, instead of directly electing our Senate, allow once again the State Legislative bodies pick their 2 U.S. Senators-it allowed for better intergovernmental legislative harmony.
(p.s.) And I stand corrected-if our primary is in February, it would be winter-in other states it is in the spring. The longer time frame between winter and the following summer makes my original point even better though.
ReplyDeleteThis is part of the reason why our delegations should be "open". Let's say Edwards was outed earlier over his infidelity, and he was the frontrunner in 2008? Shouldn't the Edwards delegates have been be free to vote for whomever they felt is the best candidate?
I used to not care for Hillary, back when she was put in charge of health care (even though she wasn't elected), and produced that massive, cumbersome, unintelligible bit of nonstarter that was the proposed goverment-paid-for health care.
ReplyDeleteHated it.
But her latest gig, being Secy of State, well she rocks. She talks to the Koreans, she talks to the Russians, she talks to all the Arabs, and she piles up the miles.
She is so smarter than Sarah Palin or Michele Bachmann, who both look like high school cheerleaders compared to the valedectorian. Sorry Amelia, I like you and all, but neither Palin or Bachmann is presidential material.
So, I will vote for Hillary if she is the Democratic candidate, otherwise I am casting my vote for Romney, the moderate republican Bill Weld lookalike.
Hillary already said she would never run for president. Ken, do you think you have the kind of pull to make her change her mind?
I voted for Hillary in the primary. She had better education policy than Obama. And Obama's actual education policy has turned out even worse than I expected.

ReplyDeleteI'm impressed Ken. You actually give me hope for the democrat party. Now you need to come up with a plan for all those idiots who have no idea why you think you made a mistake. They are the people destroying your party (and if they could, this country) and they have no idea they are doing it.

ReplyDeleteIs there a democrat other than Hillary that is more worthy of the nomination, if it is someone other than Obama?
ReplyDeleteShe is loyal, both with Jennifer Flowers and Monica Lewinsky, she stood by her man. Bill-right or wrong. America-right or wrong? Is that what we need?
Will she sell Israel out to Palestine? She doesn't need to impress the NY vote any longer. She remains friendly with Wall Street nevertheless.
Does it really matter? Rumor at Davos was that she is interested in Secretary General of the UN, why would she want to be President of an AA nation? Is she good for main Street, or Wall
Street?
The Democrats need a Kucinich that looks like Mitt Romney.

ReplyDeleteLet's say Hillary accepts the position of Secretary General (Has a woman ever held that esteemed position?), and Obama is disqualified due to being born in Kenya ( Albeit unfairly by a political Supreme Court decision.). Who would lead the Democratic Party to victory in 2012? Would a President Biden get the nomination of the Democratic Party? Would he gaff himself into exclusion?
ReplyDeleteWho will be the Democratic nominee in 2016? Will Hillary be too old then? Who is the up and coming Democratic decider?
Sorry about getting water in your basement- I was trying to put out a fire at the time, but there was smoke everywhere and the flames were dim yet smoldering and determined. Who is peeking in my neighbors basement?
