Planned Staff Cuts At Southbridge School Department

On June 8^th there was a Committee of the Whole meeting of the Southbridge School Committee.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the impact of the level-funded budget approved by the Town Council.

The clip below is extracted from a much longer video of the entire meeting, recorded by Bill Bishop. In it Superintendent Stanton lays out the positions that she plans to cut to accommodate the approved budget.

Southbridge Council's Committee Of The Whole Rescheduled

The Southbridge Town Council Committee of the Whole meeting originally scheduled for this evening has been rescheduled. It will now take place on Thursday at 6 PM.

Council Chairman Moriarty released the following statement on his Facebook page:
"In order for the Town Council to have a better understanding of key components of the School Department budget, and to allow citizens interested in the Town budget AND the proposed restructuring of Southbridge Middle/High School, the Council of the Whole meeting originally scheduled for this evening has been rescheduled.

On Monday night the Southbridge School Committee held a “Committee of the Whole” meeting at 25 Cole Ave.

The only non-school committee member to attend that meeting was former School Committee member Becky Newell.

She has provided us with her notes from that meeting.

On Monday October 6th, I decided to go to the Southbridge School Committee Meeting of the Whole at Cole Ave in Southbridge. This public meeting was scheduled to start at 6 pm and I arrived in the room at approximately 5:55 pm.
