May Day Festival returns at the QVCAH

Saturday, May 2nd, 12-6pm 


Spring is here and we are ready to celebrate! Come join us for our annual May Day Festival at the Arts Center. We will have music, dancing, arts and crafts faire, beer and wine garden, traditional foods, children's activities and games, the May Queen pageant, and of course, the May Pole!
Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.

Please join us from Noon to 8 pm Wednesday through Saturday and 10 to 6 pm Sunday. You'll find a huge selection of locally made gifts at the  Art Center.

EDMUND TETREAULT EXHIBITION FEATURING WORK BY FOUR GENERATIONS OF ARTISTS


The Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities will host during the month of October AFTER HOURS, an art exhibition featuring work by the late Edmund (Eddie) Tetreault. The exhibition, which focuses on Tetreault’s paintings will also include work by three generations of artists in his family: Maxine Jolie, his daughter; Brenda Fredericks, his granddaughter; and great-granddaughter, Courtney Caplette. The late Tetreault began his painting career upon retiring, and was prolific during the eight years preceding his death. He painted almost daily until his eyes failed. The four generations of artists included in this group exhibition all have connections to Christine O'Brien's Atelier D'Art, taking lessons at her Southbridge Studio over the course of their individual artistic journeys.

The Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities (QVCAH) is proud to present A Winter Celebration which will be held next weekend, December 7th, 2012 at 111 Main Street in Southbridge, MA.

Come celebrate the Winter Season at the Arts Center on Friday, December 7th from 5- 9 PM! A free family event for all ages with live seasonal violin music by Samantha Gillogly, ice sculpture demonstration by Don Chapelle and Brilliant Ice Sculpture, glassblowing demonstration by Gale Scott and Shaun Conroy courtesy of Worcester Center for Crafts.

Exhibition Of Paintings By Charles Gaulin At The Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts & Humanities

Please join QVCAH for a Weekend of Art by Dolores Kosciusko, October 13th & 14th, 2012. 

On display throughout the galleries will be a retrospective of the artist's work.  

Born and raised in Southbridge, Dolores Kosciusko now lives in Dudley and has been painting for over 50 years. She has been included in numerous juried shows and has exhibited her work throughout New England and Hawaii.

PHOTOFEST 2012

Please join QVCAH for the Opening Reception of Photofest 2012 on Friday, September 7th, 2012 from 6 – 8:30 pm. Awards Ceremony begins at 7pm. This juried group exhibition features work by local area photographers as well as artists from New York, Virginia & the UK. After the reception please join us in the galleries for the last three films of the Luna Film Festival.

This is a QVCAH Annual Juried Exhibition of Photography, Sept 7-30th featuring work by- Joe Brindisi, Lee Brusa, Lawrence Brusa, Aaron Lassman, Mary Anne Magiera, Deb Ryan, Lynn F. Salem, Harvey Shanbaum, Johana Skalsky, Paul Swiacke, Paul Toussaint, and Anne Winterbottom.

Call for Entries: PHOTOFEST at QVCAH

The Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities (QVCAH) will be hosting PHOTOFEST, an annual open theme photography exhibition in September, 2012. QVCAH is currently seeking photographers to submit their original (digital and traditional) photos for this juried group exhibition. Prizes will be awarded and presented at the opening reception to be held on Friday, September 7th 2012 from 6-9 pm. QVCAH welcomes and encourages proposals for site specific installations by individuals and groups.

2012 Members Exhibition and Annual Meeting at QVCAH

The Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities (QVCAH) will be hosting its Member's Exhibition and Annual Meeting on June 29th, 2012.


Please join us starting at 6 pm for the opening of the 2012 Member’s Exhibition. The Member's Exhibition promises to include a diverse selection of work from supporting members of the organization ranging from painting and sculpture, to photography, pottery and crafts. The QVCAH Annual Meeting will begin at 7 pm with committee presentations, meeting and elections as the evening is filled with spirited discussion about the past, present and future direction of the organization. This is an excellent opportunity for the growing QVCAH membership and the public to engage the QVCAH Board of Directors in both an informal and formal setting.

2nd Annual May Day Festival at QVCAH

The Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities (QVCAH) QVCAH celebrates their 2nd annual May Day Festival on the front lawn of the Arts Center at 111 Main Street in Southbridge, MA. Live music by Riverbend with roving Fiddlers. May Pole dance caller Bill Fischer will lead two May Pole Dances. The first May Pole dance at 1 pm. Deb Malouin talks about raising Monarch Butterflies and discusses the various pollinators of our region at 1:30 pm. Badger Meets the Fairies puppet show performed by Galapagos Puppet Theater at 2 pm. May Queen Pageant for girls ages 3-7 at 3:30 pm. Green Man mask making and flower tiara weaving throughout the day's festivities. Traditional Food, Wine & Beer Garden. Come celebrate the Spirit of Springtime at an event that's fun for the whole family . The Terra 25 recycled art exhibit will be open in the galleries throughout the day. Entrance to the festivities is free and open to the public. Refreshment will be available to purchase.

I Wish I Could Draw: Solo Exhibition by Phillip Browne

This multimedia exhibition will be on view through June 17th, 2012 at the Art Center, 111 Main Street, Southbridge, MA. QVCAH invites the public to attend the reception on Thursday, May 17th from 6-9 pm. The exhibition and reception are free to attend.

Terra 25: Opening Reception and Presentation on Monarch Butterflies by Deb Malouin

The Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities (QVCAH) is sponsoring the opening reception of Terra 25, the 2nd Annual High School Student Recycled Art Exhibit. In addition to the exhibit opening and in celebration of Earth Day, there will be a presentation given at 1 pm by Deb Malouin on monarch butterflies, hummingbirds, bees and other pollinators of our region. In recent years, environmental changes, pesticide use and technological developments have altered the sustainability of our ecosystems. Deb will discuss these effects and describe her passion for raising monarch butterflies, an art passed down from her mother that she now shares with her own children.
