It’s now been over a week since The O’Zone addressed the issue of the Massachusetts Senate’s approval of legislation that would
allow Southbridge residents to vote on the amendments to the town charter
crafted by Clark’s cronies on the General Government subcommittee and approved
by his puppet council.
At the time we pointed out the fact that, apparently,
the town manager wasn’t aware of what was in the legislation.
He proposed working with his puppet council to hold a plebiscite in the spring. However, the legislation required the vote to be
held in 2012.
In a similar vein our state representative has
offered multiple rationales to a variety of his supporters, apparently
depending upon their importance to his quest for reelection, as to why things turned
out this way and why Mr. Clark didn’t know what was in the bills.
Since then the Governor has signed those bills into
law.
Since then, also, we have heard nothing on the
subject from either Mr. Clark or Mr. Durant.
Amazingly, neither of our local papers, The
Southbridge Evening News nor The Worcester Telegram & Gazette, has seen fit
to look into the matter. Or maybe, in fairness, they did and got stonewalled. If that's the case though, it too would be news and should be reported.
Now, I realize that there are those who will ask why
I haven’t made an effort myself to get a response from either Mr. Durant or Mr.
Clark on this matter. Well, frankly, I don’t think they would even take my
calls. Even if they did, I have to assume that no matter how I reported their
comments I would be criticized as reporting them inaccurately.
If they want to comment, my email address is
prominently displayed right at the top of this blog. Any email response will be
printed verbatim. Scout’s honor.
In the meantime however, I can only assume that they
are scrambling in backrooms, not unlike the Romney campaign.
I will give them this much credit, however. Unlike
Romney, they are apparently aware that sometimes it is better to say nothing
and look stupid, rather than opening their mouths and removing all doubt.
Maybe he plans to take us on a tour of the secret "backrooms" where some councilors get busy screwing the rest of us. ;)
