Council Hypocrisy Regarding The Landfill

The town charter is quite clear that the town council is the chief policy making body of the town.

It is equally clear that appointments to the Board of Health are made by the Town Manager with the approval of the council.

For the last week I have been engaged in a debate on the site Focused On Southbridge.

While I planned to discuss the shortcomings of the Goals and Objectives set for the Town Manager, it quickly devolved into a discussion about the town’s landfill.

Telegram Reports On Superintendent Candidate Interviews

Writing in the Worcester Telegram, Brian Lee reported on Wednesday’s interviews of candidates by the Southbridge School Committee.

Sheryl Stanton, Southbridge's assistant superintendent; Richard D’Agostino, a retired Warwick, Rhode Island, superintendent; and Amy McKinstry, Northbridge director of curriculum, were interviewed by committee members Scott Lazo, Dr. Raymond Page, Jill Congdon, William Bishop and Amelia Peloquin.

An Invitation To Southbridge Candidates

Candidates for public office in the upcoming Southbridge town election are invited to submit statements of their positions on issues of concern to them and Southbridge residents.

In addition to highlighting areas of policy concern, candidates should also include information on their education, prior public service, occupation and any other area that might be of interest to voters.

Please include a recent photo of yourself in JPEG or PNG format for inclusion in your article.

Candidates For Southbridge Town Election

The slate for the Southbridge Town Election is pretty well set. A couple of candidates had not returned their papers as of 2:30 this afternoon.

 However, the big news is confirmation that Lauren McLoughlin and Kara Donovan never even took out papers to run for re-election to the School Committee.
