The Pentagon Plan For The Zombie Apocalypse - Seriously

Ken O’Brien

Foreign Policy magazine is not a tabloid publication given to bizarre flights of fancy. It is not “The Onion”, reveling in shaking things up with outrageous imagined headlines.

As noted on Wikipedia, “Contributors for Foreign Policy include former US diplomat Peter Galbraith, Pulitzer Prize-winning military reporter Tom Ricks, international bestseller Stephen Walt, blogger Daniel Drezner, former Los Angeles Times columnist Rosa Brooks, Condoleezza Rice's longtime chief speechwriter Christian Brose, 9/11 Commission director Philip Zelikow, ex-senior White House aide Peter Feaver, top Pentagon official Dov Zakheim, John McCain's foreign policy adviser Steve Biegun, award-winning journalist David Bosco, and Washington journalist Josh Rogin (who specializes in investigative reports on national security and foreign policy).”

No Romney Gaffe? What About “Syria Is Iran’s Route To The Sea”?

To listen to the Romney campaign flacks and the cable news pundits you are left with one fundamental talking point. That message is, “Romney did what he had to do; he made no mistakes and proved acceptable as a commander in chief.”

That is absolute, unmitigated crap. For someone who keeps using the term “geopolitical”, with the emphasis on “GEO”, he made a gaffe as significant as Gerald Ford’s infamous pronouncement that Poland was not under Soviet hegemony.

Obama Takes The Rubber Match

The Return Of Multiple Choice Mitt

Snap polls from CNN, PPP and CBS News gave President Obama the victory in the foreign policy debate.

In the CNN-ORC poll, 48 percent of voters said Obama won; 40 percent said Romney did. Public Policy Polling's swing state poll gave it to Obama by 53 percent to 42 percent. The CBS poll of uncommitted voters was more dramatic: Obama took 53 percent, Romney took 23 percent, and another 24 percent called it a tie.

Following is a series of observations over the course of the debate.

A Coalition Of Bigots, Morons, And Moral Putty Manipulated By The Fat Cats And You Can’t See It? Or Are You Part Of It?

In regard to an ongoing debate today one of The O’Zone’s frequent commenter’s said, “People don't vote with their brains, they vote with their hearts!!!”

I’ll let the right-wing nutjobs who have worked for two years to destroy the only major economy that has moved forward while the rest from Britain to France to China have regressed, deal with the policy dictum of Senate Minority Leader  Mitch McTurtle that his, and his Party’s, main objective was to guarantee that Barack Obama was a one-term President.

Don’t Buy Netanyahu’s Iran Scare

Benjamin Netanyahu
Yesterday afternoon I wrote the following as a comment in regard to another post:

Netanyahu’s warhawk blustering is understandable to anyone who follows Israeli internal politics. Following the erosion of his coalition government he rushed through a series of austerity measures that, as Agency France Press reported in August, caused “Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's popularity [to] [plummet] to its lowest point since his election in 2009 after he pushed through a series of tough austerity measures, a poll showed yesterday.
