Water and sewer rates have been an issue in
Southbridge for some time.
Therefore it comes as a matter of some concern to
find that the public hearing on the setting of rates for the next year is
scheduled for 6 p.m. this coming Thursday night.
You see, the problem is that the debates for Town
Council and School Committee candidates are scheduled for the same night from 5
p.m. until 8 p.m.
The public announcement
of the debates was on June 9. The posting
of the public hearing was on June 8.
Couldn’t there have been an effort to see that two
events of so much interest to the public did not conflict?
