It needs a deft combination of spacial awareness, soft focus, and constant anticipation--skills that are quintessentially human. 

Walmart’s Impact On American Job Loss

A report issued today by the Economic Policy Institute focuses on jobs lost to the U.S. economy as a result of Walmart’s Chinese imports.

Imports from China have cost the United States a lot of jobs—3.2 million of them between 2001 and 2013. And Walmart accounted for around 415,000 of those lost jobs, the  report estimates. That’s 13.2 percent of the jobs lost to Chinese imports that can be attributed to Walmart.

This comes atop other vacancies, both voluntary and enforced, that have arisen in recent months. There is also the prospect of unexpected departures that may coincide with the end of the current school year.

With all these factors at play those at the top are confronted with the daunting task of winnowing a large body of potential applicants down to a manageable pool of viable candidates.

Former Superintendent of Southbridge Schools and current town delegate to the Central Mass Regional Planning Commission, Arnold Lanni, appeared at Monday night’s Town Council meeting.

Mr. Lanni spoke during the public hearing on the fiscal year 2015 town budget. He addressed the fundamental failings of the Council and the town government in general to deal realistically with the basic problems of the community.

The reality is that there is very little any presidential candidate can do about it.

Who can forget the rabid efforts by GOP forces in the Congress to defund National Public Radio earlier this year?

Further evidence of their motives for such an effort was provided today.

It has become axiomatic that any effort to raise taxes on the top 1% is met with the argument by Republicans that, "We can't raise taxes on the job creators."

In fact, Republicans have argued vehemently that tax reductions for  the rich don't have to be paid for because they pay for themselves in increased economic benefits (i.e. the gains to the rich trickle down to the 99%).

Never forget that Mitch McConnell, Senate Minority Leader, stated quite clearly that his Party’s number one priority was to guarantee that Barack Obama was a one-term President.

As a result we have witnessed a conscious program that has sought to stymie every effort designed to improve the economy.
