well is Rachel Maddow says it, lock everything up, as she is always right and never wrong. All hail the miighty O'Brien and Maddow. If they proclaim it, you must accept it.
And Gee Ken, how is that recovery effort going for Obama? Perhaps (and this is just an opinion) Romney is not wrong about FEMA. Maybe 4 days to get something to NY and Jersey in the way of government help is not a bad rate. After all, within 24 hours we managed to be in Haiti for their recovery effort. I guess this is once again the Obama administration lending a New Orleans style helping hand. Jesus Ken, Obama is making NYC look like a third world nation. Thank God for FEMA on the job. Perhaps Obama would be better off putting the people who run Wal Mart in charge. If we are going to point out lies, let’s keep in mind that BOTH sides not only lie, but turn a disaster relief effort into a major shit show. Way to go to BOTH sides and both are prolific liars, to our detriment unfortunately.
A government program where retired or ROTA government types make obsene amounts of money (think $2k weekly and more) to live in hotels paid by the government, to spend lots of time organizing from a distance and then after some grass roots (think Red Cross for instance) effort is already underway goes in and provides bureaucracy - you know, to make sure things run right. Meanwhile the U.S. Military (another government program), who by the way have a sterling record of providing first-world medical and humanitarian assistance in other countries, is often sitting by waiting for the hired experts to make the first move.
As astonishing as this may sound, this bloviated government specimen more often makes things worse. And then the cynical insult added of throwing away more government money to an ineffective program leaves such a sour taste.
Sorry Ken, but FEMA is a dog, and it doesn't matter who's running it.
Use of the military is limited by what is known as The Posse Comitatus Act. The use of the National Guard is the choice of the Governor, not the President. As far as FEMA being a waste, that hasn't been the case with Sandy and it wasn't the case following hurricane Andrew. The reality is that Dubya used it as a patronage dumping ground. See: http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/08/29/AR2005082901445.html
So you hypothesis is that when President George W. Bush's people screw up during Katrina, that's bad, but when President Obama's people screw up during Sandy, that's ok? I love how Democratic hacks vilify, properly, one group for mishandling a situation, while coddling and defending their own for doing the exact same. People like you make me sick: hypocrites who refuse to open their eyes to the reality that is not the Democratic talking points. Yeah, we gotta miss Gitmo--oops, sorry, we still have that. Oops, gotta miss that Watergate coverup--oops, forgot, we have our own Libyan consulate cover-up, unless of course, Rachel Maddow and the Liberal press say it's not. The Obama administration can't even get their stories straight on the lie. Maybe they can take a cue from Brownie?
How has Obama screwed up the response to Sandy? As far as Libya, stop getting all your information from Fox and the rightie blogs. Even Condi Rice has said that people are jumping the gun on drawing conclusions.
