Mr. Olivo stated he had been a resident of
Southbridge since 2006. He is an active duty member of the Massachusetts
National Guard with experience in overseas deployment and is a native of Texas.
What had been previously anticipated as another
vacancy has yet to be realized. Although Committee member Dr. Thomas O’Leary
announced in the press that he would resign in connection with an issue related
to his medical practice, that resignation has yet to be forthcoming. He was
absent from tonight’s meeting as was councilor Catherine Nikolla.
The other candidates for the position were Leann
Pate and David DiGregorio.
Ms. Pate had previously run for School Committee in
2012.
Mr. DiGregorio had previously served for nine years
as a member of the Committee. In 2012 he withdrew
his name from consideration in in that year’s election subsequent
to filling nomination papers. In announcing his withdrawal at that time, during
the new business portion of the School Committee meeting, Mr. DiGregorio
recalled his father telling him, “Try not to screw things
All members of the School Committee who were present
voted for Olivo as well as did Town Council members Vandal and Carrasco.
Councilors Langevin, Marcucci and Peloquin voted for Leann Pate. DiGregorio
received the votes of councilors Clemence and Manna.
Mr. Olivio is a good man, with great values. I hope he is not corrupted by McLaughlin and Donovan who continue to demonstrate questionable ethics.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to my Brother in Arms. Hopefully he will bring some of the common sense he has practiced in the military to this new endeavor.
ReplyDeleteI don't think it will take Mr. Olivo long to figure out how bad our Superintendent is. $500.00 a day for what? Legal frees, unemployment costs, resigning employees being paid thousands of dollars to stay home, ect. Let's not forget the soon=to=be teachers' contract that McLaughlin and Donovan owe to the teachers' union for their election.
ReplyDeleteMr. Olivo, you jumped into a cesspool.
