Presenting The Republican Nominee For President: An Empty Suit!

Ken O’Brien

Anti-Incumbent Derangement Syndrome (AIDS) has reached its absolute peak in the Republican Presidential campaign.

In their all-out effort to defeat incumbent President Barack Obama, today saw the dropping of any last vestiges of integrity or principle.

First we saw the endorsement of Mitt Romney by hoped-for white knight Jeb Bush. Despite his long-standing and often enunciated disagreement with the hard right positions adopted by Romney on immigration, Bush nevertheless endorsed him. However, the endorsement was significantly muted by the fact that it came only as a press release and a “tweet” with no public appearance.

But that turnaround was nothing compared to the admission by Romney's Communications Director on CNN:

What this advisor was telling the public was, “Never mind what we say now, we’ll change all that after we get the nomination”.

For a party that crucified John Kerry in 2004 for his “flip-flop” on a single appropriations issue, this is the height of hypocrisy. Not only has Romney already produced enough flip-flops to accommodate every Club-Med worldwide, his spokesman is telling you that there are more to come.

As the old saying goes, if you stand for nothing, you’ll fall for anything.

Then again, Republicans may be seeking to disprove the tried and true political aphorism that you can't beat somebody with nobody. Wouldn't that be a pathetic proof that this election is turning into a hate crime against the American public?
