I am both pleased and surprised by the number of you who took the time to suggest names of those you would like to run for Southbridge town council.
I know, however, that the number of you who submitted suggestions is only a small fraction of those who read the article and the comments.
From those comments I have compiled a list of 12 names that were suggested. They are (in alphabetical order by last name):
Ann Beinema
Larry Beinema
Stephanie DeMartino
Raciel Fernandez
Gary Fontaine
Demetri Kasperson
Richard Logan
Dennis Martinek
Shaun Moriarty
Amelia Peloquin
Eddi Phillips
John Pulawski
Larry Beinema
Stephanie DeMartino
Raciel Fernandez
Gary Fontaine
Demetri Kasperson
Richard Logan
Dennis Martinek
Shaun Moriarty
Amelia Peloquin
Eddi Phillips
John Pulawski
Now it is up to you to help winnow down the field to those who you, collectively, feel would best represent your interests as well as having the best chances of being elected.
On the upper right hand side of The O’Zone you will find a poll that lists these 12 names and offers you the opportunity to vote anonymously.
Given the limitations offered by blogspot, I want to establish a couple of guidelines that will have to rely on the honor system to be respected.
Please vote for no more than three candidates.
Please vote only if you are a Southbridge resident of voting age.
Please vote only if you are a Southbridge resident of voting age.
The poll will be open until Friday, February 10 at 7pm.
I make no pretense that this is anything more than a casual, unscientific survey. However, the more of you who vote, the more valid the results will be.
Please take a moment to participate and rest assured that there is no way for even me to know who voted and how.

Fontaine, Martinek, Logan.
ReplyDeleteHi Ken. I just don't have the time needed right now to be an effective councilor so please take my name off the list. I would like to say to everyone that serving on the council was a very rewarding experience and no one should think it's not worth their time. It's a very demanding and often frustrating job but it's something worth doing.
ReplyDeleteRich:
ReplyDeletePlease understand that I took the names of all who were suggested. If I intervene now, I could be accused of rigging the results.I put up your post and I would hope that people respect your wishes.
However, please don't press me to put myself in a position where the integrity of the results would be undermined.
Just enjoy the love of those who miss you (myself included).
I wish I had gotten a response as to who Eddi Phillips and Dimitri were so that I could then enter the person I would have wanted to be added to the list. I would like to have had James Sottile on the list.
ReplyDelete...I'm not interested in running this year. I gave it a lot of serious thought in the last few months, but it's a huge commitment to do the job well and my husband and I agree that it just doesn't make sense for my family right now.
ReplyDeleteI *am* very interested in doing campaign work. Dennis was right on with his advice to organize, fundraise, and take it to the streets. Building a successful grassroots campaign is an incredibly huge amount of work, but it's work I enjoy and I'm hoping I can be useful in some way this political season.
Many thanks to Anon 05:18 PM, Cozzens, Bob and Rich: I very well may take you up on the suggestion at some point in the future.
My browser isn't showing the link to the poll, so pleare tally this as my vote:
ReplyDeleteLarry Beinama andJohn Pulawski because they speak truth to power even when abused by Chairperon Nikolla and Shawn Mofarty because he knows how to play ball in more ways than one in a sportsmanlike manner.

ReplyDeleteI don't know why your browswer isn't showing the poll, but I, like everyone else, can only vote once.
If there is a way for me to do what you ask, I don't know it.
Sorry.
Thanks, Amelia...what I said before, I truly believe is the only path to victory, regardless of who runs. Having said that, there's really not that much time to waste finding three candidates, and getting boots on the ground. Otherwise, we might as well throw in the towel, and concede defeat to a bunch of nincompoops. I don't believe that's a realistic option, and all of the people on the list care about the town, and are fighters, each in their own different way. The debates must be vocal, to hold these ninnies accountable while educating the pubic as to what they've done, and what it's cost us, along with the Town Manager, who's as bad as Nikolla and Clemence.
ReplyDeleteKen, I think your readers got the top two right, Gary and Shaun. I would have been thrilled with one vote...Rich, you interested in being number three? You guys would sweep!
