  1. No Superintendent Search Committee? Gardner is named Superintendent, not interim? Aren't these the same people who were outraged over the lack of search committees for principals, but now they don't do the same for a Superintendent?

  2. Oh come on Ken . . . Until McLoughlin and Donovan "Bushwacked" Woodruff, you were all lovey dove with them. How you pounded Jack Jovan!
McLoughlin and her pals were the same ones standing outside the town hall with their "Do The Right Thing" signs. We got Ely!
These two broads are dispicable - and you once raved about them.

    1. I thought, as did many, that a change was needed. However, after they were elected I withheld judgment until I saw performance. The performance has not been there. They've had their chance and it has not been acceptable.
It's easy to criticize me, but I can just as easily say "If I knew then what I know now..." I was certainly not alone in my attitude at the time. If I had been, they wouldn't be there now. Nor would public opinion be what it is now.

As with so many things the issue should not be a re-litigation of the past but rather what do we do now?

    2. By the way, I don't recall raving about them. I could be wrong about that. Could you cite a specific?

    3. It never fails to amaze me how we "forget" the last, and often we wish to " move forward.". If we fail to remember the past we are doomed to repeat our mistakes.
It also amazes how "everyone wanted change.". But now that the "change" is here, it don't look so good, does it?
The girls have had two years to find a PERMANENT superintendent. Now it's going to be three years. Are the girls cowards? Afraid to appoint one. Incompetent? Maybe they believe we really don't need one, as they appear to be running the day-to-day operations.
Well I didn't think we needed change two years ago, but we sure as Hell do now!

    4. I’m not going to recant. Change was needed. Remember Ely and that mess? And the same committee people brought in Buzz. And he was subsequently made PERMANENT, or did you forget? We needed change two years ago, but unfortunately the change we got wasn’t up to the task. So we still need change, and it can only be hoped that whoever does the vetting is more thorough than was the case in the prior two cases.

I suggest that you change your screen name to “The Revisionist Historian”.

  3. And you wonder why people feel disaffected and don't turn out to vote. They say one thing to get elected and turn around and participate in the same dirty politics that they accused their predecessors with. One thing though, at least the "Fab-Four" had search committees.

    1. Woodruff also had a search committee before Buzz decided to become permanent and was granted a contract.

It amazes me that the School Committee who says they are doing this for the town and the children and not for themselves continues to do things without the towns people's involvement!!!! Super Intendent is the most important position in a School District!! They had a 19 person search committee for principals why nothing for a Super Intendent?

If the School Committee wants to chose Ms Gardner because she is already in the system fine but she needs to apply like anyone else. The proper procedure is to put out an advertisement, resesrch applicants, interview them and then chose. If they chose not to then vote her as Acting Super Intendent until it is done!! I should know I had to do it!!

After sitting down and talking with Jack Jovan, we will be doing an interview / discussion show for Public Access and for Posting on the web. This is a continuation of what we did last year. The format is simple; the objective is to allow the citizens of Southbridge to get to know the candidates and the issues. Also, we would like to help increase the voter turn-out in the election that effects us the most--Town Government. In the next week, we will release a schedule. If there are any candidates that want to get in touch with Fritz the following is an email where you can send your requests. Fritz_Wants_to_Know@schnauzer-and-a-man.com

Citizens of Southbridge may also email Fritz possible questions and issues that need to be raised using the same email address. We will not promise that we will get to your questions or issues because there is only so much time in a 30 minute interview. However we will try to hit the highlights.
